Versailles Couture Wedding Invitation and Details created by Trisha Caal of Embellishments
The Palace of Versailles Theme Wedding
The Wedding of: Anita Messick & Sean Vanek
"Anita and I both know the wedding would not have been this beautiful without your input and help. We are grateful for all you have done. Fondly, Marie Messick "
Ceremony Location: The pristine landscaped grounds and gardens of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Messick
Reception Location The Yorktowne Hotel, York, Pennsylvania
The Yorktowne Hotel, built in the early 1900's, is an architectural treasure and is included among the Historic Hotels of America. A landmark in every sense, The Yorktowne Hotel is one of York, Pennsylvania's crowning jewels. The windows of the the Mirror Room, where the reception was held, line the outer wall and rise twenty feet high. Antique crystal Chandeliers cascade down from the ceiling and the inner wall of mirrors reflect the amazing appointments and elegance of this room.
The Mirror Room Reveals The Inspiration
The windows, the chandeliers, the wall of mirrors.... what could be more perfect for a theme than the Palace of Versailles. The Mirror Room at The Yorktowne Hotel held all the elements that were so carefully preserved at the Palace of Versailles. And in thinking the theme through, all concluded that even the beautiful gardens of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Messick could perfectly represent the outer landscaped garden of the Palace of Versailles. The Orangerie is the section of the palace gardens which features exotic plants and elaborate topiaries. The inspiration to pull from both the inner palace elements and the historic garden elements appealed to everyone.
The Inspiration Becomes The Theme
Luxurious Wedding Couture Invitation Designer, Trisha Caal of Embellishments, conceptualized, developed and designed all the Versailles elements specifically for this event.
"The key word we associated with Versailles was AWE and we wanted to translate it to every element in a very distinct way."
The Save The Date
The Save The Date was astonishing. Embellishments designed an engraved mirrored save the date magnet which incorporated the custom monogram designed for the bride and groom. The Save The Date was elegantly packaged for each guest in a custom pearl brocade and flocked box.
The Couture Wedding Invitation
The mirror theme is carried over to the boxed wedding invitation which was multi layered on silk, mirrored and printed on alabaster cardstock. A thick double face satin ribbon is the backdrop for a French shaped crystal which clearly showcases the custom silver foiled monogram. On the back of the invitation, a silk pouch contained the insertions and encases all the essential locations and timeline details. In the end, the entire boxed invitation is elegantly wrapped in pearl brocade paper and tied with a custom monogrammed ribbon. A mirrored hang tag lovingly addressed by the bride and groom adds the final touch of awe.
The Central Detail
The French crystal featuring the etched monogram will continue to awe and surprise the guests throughout the evening, This central detail can be seen everywhere throughout every element of the wedding decor.
The Ceremony Location
A French Garden Setting At The Home Of The Bride's Parents
The manicured grounds of the Messick Residence was transformed into a resplendent garden of potted french topiaries made from lilac peonies, spray grass, roses and hydrangeas, all overflowing from vases and terracotta pots. The trees were decorated with various floral intensive botanical balls suspended from branches. Potted plants lined the walk ways and unique floral sculptures were visible from every angle.
The Ceremony Details
A Custom Tent Influenced By The Emperor's Bedroom - Palace of Versailles
A crystal embellished and candle lit chandelier hung from the top of the entry greeting tent. The ceremony tent featured white fabric draped on the walls of the text and offset by hardwood flooring and a riser of hardwood and white wainscoating for the nuptual area. The floral decor in varying shades of white provided an aura that was ethereal and romantic. Huge white botanical balls, dripping with crystals, hung from the Charvairi chairs at the beginning of each row. The regal ambiance of the tent space was enhanced by the glow of soft amber lighting from the candlelit chandelier.
The Bridal Bouquet
The bridal bouquet was made from white roses, calla lilies and stephanotis. In the center of the bouquet, on a single stephanotis bloom, an exquisite blue crystal jewel gave the bride her "something blue". The floral stems were elegantly wrapped in ivory satin. Because the crystal brooch was a major element in the detailing of this wedding, a crystal brooch appears on the handle of the bridal bouquet.
The Reception Begins
The Mirror Room, The Yorktowne Hotel, York, Pennsylvania
Guests were greeted with chilled champagne while a jazz pianist created magical melodies in the background. Chilled seafood was displayed on an elaborately carved ice sculpture. In addition, an attention grabbing sculpted Ice Vase was filled with huge white calla lilies decorated with sparkling crystals dripped out from the center of each blossom.
The Wedding Cake
Cake Designed By Lourdes Anaya.
This 4 tiered work of art replicated the design elements of the wedding invitation. The first tier displayed the essence of the bow including the brooch. The second tier defines the custom monogram V. The third tier was decorated with the pearl brocade scroll design. The top tier featured the part of the monogram which was inspired by the gates at the Palace of Versailles.
The Escort Cards
In keeping with the mirror theme, the escort cards were designed as an extension of the guest invitation. Multi layered mirrored and alabaster cardstock featured the silver foiled monogram and a delicate crystal hung from the bottom tip. Each card was tied with a platinum satin ribbon then suspended from a platinum wrought iron tree. White flower blooms cascaded and accented the large etched monogram hanging crystals.
The Lighting Ambiance
Effectively Using Lighting To Keep The Tempo
A chic, romantic amber glow greeted guests as they entered into the crystal and mirrored ballroom. Lighting hues ran the gamut of soft shades of pink along each side of the two largest walls to provide a warm and romantic glow. Pale pink pin spot lighting made the crystal elements glisten on the table decor.
The pale pink pin spots were directed to each centerpiece. Crystal votive holders held candles placed along the base of the centerpiece to add visual balance and to complete the romance of the table decor. As the evening festivities progressed, the lighting intensified for added drama. The dance floor was washed in hues of deep fuchsia and the lighting around the room evolved with the addition of a purple hue for the energetic dance and party fever that took over.
The Centerpieces
Regal and Reflective
Each centerpiece was designed to resemble the large hanging crystal chandeliers in the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles. The lustrous crystal candelabras had 24 inch taper candles rising from the top of each arrangement. The florals included hydrangeas, roses, spray roses, peonies, lisianthus, vibernum and other seasonal flowers in medium to hot pink hues with antique green hydrangeas.
The Table Decor - Personalized Details
Personalized mirrored menu cards using alabaster cardstock were adorned with the couples monogram and tucked inside a black satin napkin. The glass plate chargers had beaded platinum edges. The glassware was selected by Claudia Lutman because it had the same delicate detailing on the rims that can be found on the ceiling decor of the Galerie des Glaces in the Hall of Mirrors.
The Linens
A Request From The Bride and Groom
Claudia Lutman was specifically asked to incorporate black and white into the color scheme. Because Damask fabric was once an indication of social status and wealth, often limited to royalty, Claudia selected a combination of alternating tables of Black & Platinum Damask fabric.
The Delights
An Adventure For Sugar Addicts
The dessert extravaganza was the highlight of the evening for the family. The father of the bride prepared his homemade ice cream affectionately known to family and friends as "Bob's Famous Homemade Ice Cream". Sunday bar toppings, chocolate covered strawberries, mini cheesecakes, Bavarian cream fruit tarts, Coconut macaroons drizzled with dark chocolate and other tempting treats made the dessert table an adventure for all the sugar addicts.
